Route Development Trends and Future Perspectives of the Chinese Civil Air Traffic

The demand for air transport in China will continue to rise strongly, primarily driven by China 's fast and stable economic growth. At the end of 2006, it is estimated that the volume of China 's foreign trade will have exceeded 1600 billion US dollars, an increase of about 15% from 2005, while the tourism industry will boast a figure of more than 120 million tourists. By the end of 2005, the tourist destination abroad for Chinese citizens approved by the State Council had reached 117 countries or regions with an indication that these figures will continue to rise.

Dr. Andreas Kraus, Director Market and Sales Development, Lufthansa Consulting presented the perspectives for civil air traffic for the Chinese market and recent international route development trends to and from China at the 1st China International Air Routes Summit held in Guangzhou on June 27th, 2007.
