Cayman Airways on strategic reorientation
Lufthansa Consulting (LCG) was appointed by the government of Cayman Islands in May 2006 to support the development of a new sustainable business model for its national flag carrier Cayman Airways. Targeting this overall objective, LCG initially performed a functional audit to cover all key areas of the airline. The aim was to identify cost-saving and revenue-generating potential with a view to increasing efficiency. Lufthansa Consulting then conducted a follow-up project to develop a professional strategic direction and business plan for Cayman Airways, focusing on network and fleet development.
Lufthansa Consulting completed the functional audit and delivered a comprehensive assessment report to the government of the Cayman Islands. Thanks to LCG’s successful performance in the strategic direction phase, the client has now assigned the German management consultants to support the realization of the turnaround of Cayman Airways.
The follow-up project, which started in October 2006, is scheduled for one year. LCG’s main tasks will include reducing losses by 50 percent and implementing the recommendations laid out in the functional audit. Furthermore the scope of work will focus on the introduction of an updated network and the development and implementation of a long-term strategy for Cayman Islands’ national airline.
The support of Lufthansa Consulting will enable Cayman Airways to cope with the increasingly competitive environment in the airline industry, in which efficient and effective processes and a sustainable business model are the key to success. |
