Project description

As a result of the political crisis in Madagascar, following the presidential elections at the end of 2001, the flag carrier suffered heavily and had to reduce operations by up to 70 % for approx. 6 months.
In June 2002, Lufthansa Consulting was commissioned with management consulting services to turn the Madagascan national airline around, which had accumulated substantial losses for a period of more than two years.
Lufthansa Consulting's project started with an assessment of the core functions of Air Madagascar including crisis management in the financial area. This assessment was concluded by the development of a business plan for the coming 3 years. At the end of 2002, Lufthansa Consulting organized a creditors conference in order to deal with the accumulated debts and negotiated a rehabilitation plan with the creditors. All initiated measures, including the results of the creditors conference, have improved the result of Air Madagascar by approx. 30 Million USD.
