Project description

Bangalore International Airport Ltd. (BIAL) is the consortium formed by Unique Zurich Airport, Siemens Project Ventures GmbH, Larsen & Toubro and the State of Karnataka. When the consortium had been appointed as "preferred bidder" in 2002, Lufthansa Consulting was selected to update an existing traffic forecast from 2000. In order to finalize all contracts and agreements for the realization of the development project, intense negotiations between the Indian government and the consortium took place and the start of construction works was delayed until 2005 instead of starting in 2002.

Due to significant changes in the economic environment and especially in the Indian transportation market it became necessary to review and update the traffic forecast and the planning parameters for the new airport focusing on all traffic segments (passengers, cargo and flight movements). Lufthansa Consulting was appointed to conduct this study.
