Project description

Global Services provides infrastructure and related services to the Lufthansa Group and third parties. Infratec is mainly focused on the aviation industry and is faced with the situation of de-creasing revenue, growing customer demands and airlines passing the pressures onto their providers. Infratec is well aware that IT infrastructure is an airline’s vital backbone and decided to use Lufthansa’s D-Check cost cutting program as an opportunity to prepare for third party competition without losing sight of the specific requirements of aviation clients.

Lufthansa Consulting evaluated the tasks and skills of today’s value chain including the external manpower provided. The findings were matched with the strategic needs of the company. The result of the project was the initiation of seminars to develop strategic skills, the grouping of suppliers and internal services, improved negotiation power by clustering order volumes. All measures where translated into a implementation road map. The targets set will mean a 10% increase in contract potentials and 30% savings in task and skill optimization, restructuring and cost reductions for the following year.
